Explora usually sails one way between San Juan and Miami. Viking ocean sails a 10-night round trip from San Juan and does not book anyone under 18. Silver Shadow starts and ends some Caribbean cruises in San Juan. Star Clippers sailing ships start in St. Maarten, Barbados, Antigua, Aruba, or Grenada, not in San Juan or Miami. MSC’s large ships start in Miami. MSC Opera, the smaller ship, starts in La Romana and later in Fort-de-France. - River, Europe and beyond: Viking, AmaWaterways, Avalon, Uniworld, Scenic. Danube, Rhine, Seine, Douro, Mekong, and the Nile. American Cruise Lines does not sail Europe. It sails U.S. rivers: Mississippi, Ohio, Columbia and Snake, and the Great Lakes. Viking also sails the Mississippi. Windstar is an ocean line, not a river line. - Expedition, rail, groups, flights and hotels around a sailing - Expedition: Antarctica, the Arctic, Galápagos, on small ships. [Expedition cruises](https://seafunandsun.com/destinations/expedition) - [Ski](https://seafunandsun.com/ski): Club Med all-inclusive ski is one product: Québec Charlevoix (Le Massif), French Alps villages such as Val d'Isère, Tignes, Val Thorens, La Plagne, Les Arcs, and Alpe d'Huez, and Saint-Moritz. That rate often includes meals, the lift pass, and group ski lessons. Luxury hotels are separate: The Little Nell in Aspen, Four Seasons at Jackson Hole and Whistler, Fairmont hotels in Banff and at Lake Louise, village hotels at Mammoth, Cheval Blanc, Les Airelles, and Aman Le Mélézin in Courchevel, Four Seasons Megève (winter season reopens December 16, 2026), St. Moritz, Zermatt, and Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono. Those hotel rates usually leave out the lift pass, lessons, and most dinners. Aspen, Jackson Hole, Deer Valley, Banff, Mammoth, Zermatt, St. Moritz, Chamonix, Megève, and Niseko United are on Ikon. Vail, Whistler Blackcomb, and Les 3 Vallées (Courchevel, Méribel, Val Thorens) are on Epic, along with Verbier and several Austrian resorts. European and Japan access is usually a set number of days, not unlimited. A Club Med rate often already includes the local lifts. Pass rules are checked for that season. - [North America ski](https://seafunandsun.com/ski/north-america): Jackson Hole, Aspen, Deer Valley, Vail, Whistler, Banff, Lake Louise, Mammoth, Stowe, Killington, Le Massif, and Jay Peak. - [Alps ski](https://seafunandsun.com/ski/alps): Courchevel, Megève, St. Moritz, and Zermatt, including White Turf and Christmas markets when the dates match. - [Japan ski](https://seafunandsun.com/ski/japan): Niseko and the Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono, Rusutsu, Furano, the Hakuba Valley, and Nozawa Onsen. Night skiing at Niseko is a ticket for a scheduled evening. - [Rail and land](https://seafunandsun.com/rail): Amtrak and VIA scenic routes, plus luxury European sleepers. Hotel nights can sit between trains. A guided tour or an excursion may be available, depending on the city or the stop. Not every land trip is escorted. - [California Zephyr](https://seafunandsun.com/rail/california-zephyr): Chicago to Emeryville. Gore Canyon, Glenwood Canyon, and Ruby Canyon are seen from the glass car. The train does not stop in them. The station pauses at Fraser–Winter Park, Glenwood Springs, and Truckee are short. A swim in the Glenwood pool, a hike above Winter Park, or a walk at Donner Lake does not fit that pause, so you leave the train and stay the night. A roomette includes breakfast, lunch, and a three-course dinner in the dining car, plus room service. Coach passengers buy food in the cafe under the sightseer lounge. - [Empire Builder](https://seafunandsun.com/rail/empire-builder): Chicago to Seattle, or the Spokane split to Portland. East Glacier and West Glacier are brief summer stops. The stop in Whitefish is about fifteen minutes. A hike in Glacier National Park means a night in Whitefish. On the Seattle section a roomette includes the dining car. Between Spokane and Portland the meal is a cold tray in the room. - [Southwest Chief](https://seafunandsun.com/rail/southwest-chief): Chicago to Los Angeles. Raton Pass and Apache Canyon are seen from the sightseer lounge. The stop in Lamy is a few minutes, with a van to Santa Fe. The stop in Albuquerque is about forty minutes. The South Rim is a drive from Flagstaff, not a platform. - [Coast Starlight](https://seafunandsun.com/rail/coast-starlight): Seattle to Los Angeles. Mount Shasta and the Pacific south of San Luis Obispo are seen from the sightseer lounge. The Santa Barbara station is about a mile from the beach. A swim takes longer than the station pause, so you get off and stay the night. - [Grand Canyon Railway](https://seafunandsun.com/rail/grand-canyon-railway): Williams to the South Rim, about two hours and fifteen minutes. You can walk from the depot to the rim. The cafe sells sandwiches. A plated meal is in Williams or at El Tovar. - [Northeast day trains](https://seafunandsun.com/rail/northeast-trains): the Adirondack follows the Hudson and Lake Champlain. The Vermonter follows the Connecticut River. The Downeaster runs Boston to Brunswick. Coach and a cafe. No sleeper. - [The Canadian](https://seafunandsun.com/rail/the-canadian): VIA Rail, Toronto to Vancouver, about four nights. Sleeper Plus includes meals in the dining car and time in the Skyline dome. Mount Robson is seen from the train west of Jasper. People get off in Jasper and stay the night when they want time at Maligne Lake or the Icefields. Economy does not include the meals. - [European sleeper trains](https://seafunandsun.com/rail/european-sleepers): Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, La Dolce Vita Orient Express, Golden Eagle Danube Express, and the Royal Scotsman. You dress for dinner as the station lights fall behind, sleep while the country goes dark, and wake beside a canal in Venice, on the road into Rome, under the hills above Sarajevo, or in a glen in the Highlands. An agent requests the fare. - [Alpine day trains](https://seafunandsun.com/rail/alpine-trains): Glacier Express, Zermatt to St. Moritz, about eight hours, with meals at your seat. Bernina Express, to Tirano, with a short stop at Alp Grüm and the Brusio spiral. You sleep in a hotel. The Matterhorn is in Zermatt, not a climb the train makes. - [All-inclusive resorts](https://seafunandsun.com/resorts): beach stays. Sandals, Beaches, Hyatt Inclusive Collection, Excellence, Secrets, and Club Med on the sand. The page says what the rate includes, and what is booked separately. Disney park weeks are booked from the quote form. Disney Cruise Line is booked with the other ships. ## Destinations - [Cruise line comparison](https://seafunandsun.com/lines): passenger counts from the smallest ships to the largest, and general price ranges. Not a quote. Cards are headed by size. [About 3,000 to 7,600 passengers](https://seafunandsun.com/lines/large): Royal Caribbean, Carnival, MSC, Norwegian, Disney, Princess, and Celebrity Edge class. Icon and Oasis class sail Caribbean cruises, and some Oasis-class ships sail a Mediterranean season. Quantum-class ships sail an Alaska cruise from Seattle. [Large ocean ships, about 2,000 to 7,000](https://seafunandsun.com/lines/caribbean). [Mid-size ocean ships, about 1,800 to 4,200](https://seafunandsun.com/lines/alaska). [Yachts, about 100 to 450](https://seafunandsun.com/lines/yachts): SeaDream, Windstar, Four Seasons I, the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, and Star Clippers. Luxury and yacht fares are usually quoted. - [All destinations, A to Z](https://seafunandsun.com/destinations). We book ocean and river cruises, and each region has its own page. That page lists the usual routing and the common stops. An excursion in a port or a city can be arranged as an add-on to enrich the trip. It is not in the cruise fare unless the line includes it. - [Departure ports](https://seafunandsun.com/ports): the cities where cruises start, where those ships tend to go, and airlines that serve the city. Routes change. [United States and Canada](https://seafunandsun.com/ports/americas). [Europe](https://seafunandsun.com/ports/europe).
