What you can do in port in Asia
Patong is a beach on Phuket. The Grand Palace is in Bangkok. Singapore, Tokyo, and Hong Kong are other stops on these cruises.

Singapore and Tokyo often keep the ship in port into the evening. The ride from Laem Chabang into Bangkok takes long enough that a visit to the palace is the plan for those hours.

Singapore
Ships use the Marina Bay cruise terminal or HarbourFront.
Gardens by the Bay is the indoor gardens and the supertrees near Marina Bay. The ride from the Marina South terminal takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Chicken rice is poached chicken, rice cooked in the stock, and a chili sauce, sold in hawker centers.

Yokohama and Tokyo
The ship docks in Yokohama.
The train from Yokohama into Tokyo takes about half an hour. You pick one district. The Peninsula Tokyo is a hotel for the nights before or after the cruise, not a sight at the pier.

Hong Kong
Many ships dock at Ocean Terminal, in Tsim Sha Tsui.
The Star Ferry crosses the harbor to Hong Kong Island. The Peak Tram climbs to the viewpoint. The lower station is in the city, and the ride takes a few minutes. The Peninsula is a hotel on the Kowloon side for the nights before or after the cruise.

Bangkok
The ship docks at Laem Chabang, not on the river in Bangkok.
The Grand Palace is in Bangkok. The ride from Laem Chabang takes about an hour and a half to two hours. Arrive when the gates open if you want time in the grounds. Some ships stay overnight.

Phuket
The ship docks at Phuket Deep Sea Port, at Ao Makham.
Patong has the beach. A taxi from the port takes about 40 minutes. The sand is pale, and the water is warm. Phuket Old Town has the older shophouses. A taxi there takes about 30 minutes. A boat to the Phi Phi islands takes about an hour to an hour and a half after you leave the ship.
